The Forum of Equality in Culture: Accessibility 3.0 will be organized 2-4th November

We warmly welcome you to discuss how new creative technologies can improve the accessibility and equality of art of culture.

The Forum of Equality in Culture is a three day event, which will be held November 2nd to November 4th 2016 in Helsinki. The forum kicks off on Wednesday Nov 2nd, with a series of workshops around the capital area. On the following morning, we will gather in a seminar day at Media Centre Lume, and on Friday the 4th we will have introductory visits to several local organizations. You will find the whole program on our website.

The forum is meant for stakeholders in the field of arts and culture, experts in technology and accessibility, users of culture and everyone interested.

Registration

Registration to preliminary workshops and seminar day by October 14th 2016 at the latest.

The entry fee of the seminar day 3rd November is 20 euros until 31.8. and after that 40 euros. The entry fee includes light lunch and coffee on 3rd November. Students and unemployed 10 euros. The entry is free of charge for personal assistants. Please notify us about your personal assistant when registrating. Participating in the preliminary workshops on 2nd November and the introductory visits on 4th November are free of charge for everybody.

Languages and interpretation

The main languages of the forum are English and Finnish but you can also participate to some discussions in Swedish. There are interpretation between Finnish and English, interpretation in Finnish Sign Language, speech-to-text interpretation and audio description on the seminar day November 3rd.

Organizers

The Forum of Equality in Culture: Accessibility 3.0 is organized by the Culture for All Service in collaboration with Evantia, Aalto University (Media Factory), Helsingin Seniorisäätiö, Heureka - The Finnish Science Centre, Näkövammaisten kulttuuripalvelu (Cultural Service for the Visually Impaired), SAMS (Samarbetsförbundet kring funktionshinder rf), Tanssin talo ry (The Dance House Helsinki), The Finnish Film Foundation and several other organizations. The forum is partly financed by the Ministry of Education and Culture, The Swedish-Finnish Cultural Foundation and William Thurings stiftelse.

Call for introductory visits, deadline 31st August


Open call for introductory visits in connection with The Forum of Equality in Culture! Submit your proposal by 31 August 2016. We will notify the selected applicants by 9 September 2016.

Proposals can be submitted by organizations, working groups and private persons.

All organizations are offered the opportunity to organize an introductory visit to introduce what kind of work they have done towards accessibility. The participating organizations may organize, for example, 1-2 introductory events or tours on their premises on 4 November, at 9 am – 11 am and/or 1 pm – 3 pm. There will be no advance registration for the visits.

Possible topics for a visit:

  • what we have done to achieve accessibility, successes and challenges, our own experiences
  • tour of premises, recapping the accessibility solutions applied in the facilities and operations
