Workshop for artists: Tame the social media!

The illustration features computer screens and many kinds of eyes and ears growing in treetops. Above the trees, in the sky, are more eyes and ears watching and listening closely.

Time: Saturday 18 November 2023 from 12 pm to 4 pm.

Place: Culture for all’s office, Cable Factory (Tallberginkatu 1, D-stair, 5th floor), Helsinki.

You can also participate online on Zoom.

If you're one of those artists who just wants to make their own art and mostly have doubts about social media, then welcome to the workshop where we can tame the social media together! You get to create the next steps of posting on social media. We will work individually and in a small group. In this workshop:

  • Musician and singer Riikka Hänninen leads you through her own story to think about how you could lower the threshold of making posts on social media.

  • Social media activist Sam Brandt-Smal talks about their Chronic iconic - wheelchair life -Instagram account and sets you a challenge to find courage to be visible and to find your own boundaries.

  • Digital marketing professional Erika Kaipainen helps you choose the social media platform that is right for you and tells you what to post and where.

The workshop is aimed at disabled artists and artists who are Sign Language users. The workshop will be held in Finnish and interpreted into Finnish Sign Language. We will take breaks in the workshop and snacks, coffee and tea are available.

Register by Wednesday 15th November to project coordinator Riikka Hänninen:

Phone: 050 3080 232

When you register, please let us know if you will come to Helsinki or participate on Zoom. Please let us know also if you need Sign Language interpretation, so we can assign interpreters for the right groups during group work.

The workshop is provided by the Making space for artistry project. It is a project financed by Kone Foundation to promote working opportunities and equity for disabled artists and artists who are Sign Language users. The two-year project started in the spring of 2022 and will end in February 2024. The project is implemented by the Culture for All and the Cultural Association Finland’s Eucrea.
