Accessibility of the Conference


Conference venue:

Entrance and yard

The accessible entrance to Caisa is from Kaikukatu 4. The entrance is located in the courtyard of Leipätehdas. The courtyard is a well lit space but has a rough surface. There is designated accessible parking space inside the courtyard.

Caisa's premises

Caisa’s premises are accessible: no thresholds or height differences are present in rooms or corridors. An accessible toilet is on the same floor with the entrance and auditorium. All ramps meet accessibility standards, and upper floors can be reached by elevator.

Caisa's Auditorium is partially accessible with mobility aids. The stage of the auditorium is accessible. The accessible seating spaces in the auditorium are located at the front row  and at the top of tyhe auditorium (3rd floor).

There are clear signs at the premises.

Caisa's Festive Hall, gallery and auditorium are equipped with a hearing induction loop.

Assistant dogs are welcome at Caisa.

Café Bruket

Café Bruket is located on two floors: the coffee shop and service counter is in the entrance hall, where some tables will be reserved for people using mobility aids and for speakers with restricted time to eat. The main area of the lunch cafeteria is on the 3rd floor, also accessible by elevator.

Coffee is served in the entrance hall on the same floor as the the auditorium.

Languages:

The language of the conference is English.

The program will be interpreted to International Sign. Interpretation to International Sign will be visible on the stream.

The program will have speech-to-text interpretation / caption in English.

Participants in Caisa can view the captions on their own devices such as tablet or smartphone. Streamers can access the captions by dividing screen, or by using another device, such as a tablet or smartphone, on the side.

Staff at shops and other services usually speak basic or fluent English.

The route to the main entrance

  • The accessible parking space is located outdoors under 10 m from the entrance. The width of the parking space is at least 3.6 m.

  • The pick-up and drop-off area is located in the vicinity of the entrance, giving easy access to the pavement.

  • The route to the entrance is guided, rough and illuminated.

The main entrance

  • The entrance stands out clearly and is illuminated.

  • The doors connected to the entrance are hard to perceive. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door is heavy or otherwise hard to open.

In the facility

  • The customer service point is on the same floor as the entrance.

  • The customer service point has directions to the different facilities.

  • The customer service point has 2 consecutive steps.

  • The customer service point has a ramp under 6 m long, with handrails on both sides.

  • The doors in the customer service point are hard to perceive.

  • The waiting room of the customer service point has no queue number system. The waiting room has chairs.

  • The customer service point has a fixed induction loop.

  • The customer service point has a toilet marked as accessible on the same floor. The toilet door cannot be easily opened and closed.

Accessible hotels in Helsinki

Scandic Hotels, for example, offer accessible rooms in thier hotels. Scandic Paasi has accessible premises and offers accessible rooms to guests at requests.

Finding your way to Caisa

The nearest public transport stop is Haapaniemi / Aspnäs (for trams and buses). Public transport information in Helsinki is available in Finnish, Swedish and English.
