The seminar served to create a dynamic forum for cultural actors in the Nordic countries to network and cooperate. The main focus of the seminar was on understanding and promoting cultural diversity.

The Disability History Month webinar on Finland-Swedish disability history will be organised on 15.9.2025 at 15.30-17.30 (Helsinki time).
We will dive into the story of the incredible Deaf adventurer Martin Hellöre and the history of Finland-Swedish sign language users, as well as learn what kind of disability history can be found in Finland-Swedish archives, and what history can give to today’s activism.
Design for Belonging book club and practise group

The second Disability History Month in Finland will be celebrated in September 2025. Disability History Month is a set of events repeated every year in September with the aim to encourage individuals, communities and different organisations to examine our shared history from the perspective of disability. We invite everyone to highlight and explore the history of people with disabilities in diverse ways!
