Ilaria Tucci (she/her)

Areas of expertise and interest: arts-based practices and methods, children, theatre and performing arts, multilingualism on stage, dramaturgies, creative industry, cultural events, feminist peace research, co-creative practices.

Ilaria Tucci is a theatre practitioner (MA in acting, Rome, Italy, 2002) and peace scholar (PhD in Peace Studies, Tampere, Finland 2022). Her arts-based doctoral research focused on the community-based theatre experience she facilitated in Lampedusa with local activists on the everyday contradictions at the militarized Border of Europe. In her post-doctoral artistic research, Ilaria explores how multilingual dramaturgies and narratives can serve as forms of resistance and practices of hope.

In Italy, Ilaria has worked as theatre director, theatre teacher, playwright, event organiser and community facilitator for theatre companies, organisations and municipalities. She is currently working as a project planner for the Tampere Welcoming City development program at the city of Tampere. Her primary role is to foster the inclusion of residents with foreign backgrounds.

Ilaria is a certified Cultural Diversity and Sustainable Development Dialogue Cards workshop facilitator.

Ilaria has done DEI work with: Tampere Short Film Festival, Pessi Children Cultural Centre from the City of Vantaa, City of Tampere, Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, TAIKE - the Arts Promotion Centre, City of Espoo, and Oulu2026.
