Open Call for artists and cultural organisations / Svenska veckan, deadline Feb 6

Would you like to perform or present a cultural programme during Swedish Week 2026?

Take the opportunity to submit your programme proposal for Swedish Week 2026, celebrated from 2–8 November. The application period to submit your proposal is 16 January – 6 February 2026.

The week offers artists and cultural organisations unique possibilities to reach new audiences and respond to the diverse cultural needs of Swedish-speaking communities in Finland. Each year, around 20 artists and cultural organisations are selected to perform or present their work — often in several locations. Submitting a proposal is also an excellent way to increase your visibility within the Swedish Week’s network of participating locations.

Swedish Week is Finland’s largest cultural event in Swedish and is held annually in connection with the celebration of Swedish Day on 6 November. During one vibrant week in November, 28 officially participating locations* across the country offer a rich variety of culture in Swedish — from music and performing arts to literature and interdisciplinary art productions.

What are we looking for?

We welcome:

  • High quality programmes by professional artists and cultural organisations. Where possible, we also welcome programmes by young, emerging artists, as well as artists with an immigrant background who wish to establish themselves in Finland.
  • Programmes by artists and cultural organisations based in Finland. Proposals from other Nordic countries might be considered on a case by case basis.
  • Programmes primarily in Swedish, or in combination with other languages, as well as programmes connected to Swedish language culture in Finland.
  • Programmes within one or several art forms, such as music, theatre, dance, literature, stand-up comedy, visual arts, and more.
  • Programmes that engage children, young people, and other audiences, and ideally foster encounters across age, language, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Artists who are available to perform on one or several days between 2–8 November 2026.
  • Programmes that have already been performed, are ready to be performed, or are in their final stages of development.
  • Programmes that can be evaluated through recorded material such as video clips, audio files, or other representative digital material.
  • Programmes that are touring friendly and cost effective, suitable for a variety of venues. Programmes that can be performed in your own potential event spaces or offered in digital format are also welcome. Recommended group size: 1–4 performers.
