Gender: Human – Exhibition in Helsinki from 6 to 13 November
The “Gender: Human” project shows, through interviews and photographs, what it is like to be a transgender person in today’s Finland. What does gender mean to these people, how do other people react to them, and how would they like their communities to relate to them?
The Between 2015 to 2016, the team traveled around Finland interviewing and photographing transgender people of various ages and in different life situations. The photos and interviews are summarized in the exhibition.
The project aims to shed light on transgender and promote understanding of gender diversity. The aim is also to help and support people pondering their own gender as well as their loved ones.
The opening of the exhibition will be held on 6 November in Third Space (Tarkk’ampujankatu 18, Helsinki) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibition will be on display from 7 to 13 November.
The project team includes photographer Vesa Tyni, content provider Maiju Ristkari and curator Nina Suni.
