The only Finnish LGBTIQ film festival Vinokino celebrates its 25th anniversary

Vinokino, the only Finnish LGBTIQ film festival in Finland, will be arranged for the 25th time this year. Because of the jubilee year, the festival will be celebrated for five days in Turku and Helsinki. Vinokino Turku will be hosted in Alvarium (Puutarhakatu 8) from 26 October to 30 October. The festival will continue three weeks later from 16 November to 20 November in Andorra, Helsinki (Eerikinkatu 11).

In addition to these two main events, screenings will be arranged also in Tampere (4 November–6 November) and Oulu (10 December–11 December).

Vinokino’s programme includes fiction, documentaries, and short films. In fiction, the festival offers both brand new films as well as a few classics. This year the festival highlights especially minorities that often are excluded from the major film scene. Many of the films on the program include transgender people or characters. The festival will host the premiere for Jeanne d’Trans, directed by Niko Kostet. The movie brings forward the people of diverse genders. Also disabled and their sexualities will be discussed in the documentary Yes We Fuck and in the movie The Way He Looks.
