NOA Nordic Outsider Art Strengthens connections between the actors of Outsider Art in Nordic countries
A network of five professional Nordic Outsider Art organisations acts together in common project. The main aim of NOA project is to strengthen connections between the actors of Outsider Art in Nordic countries and to develop new collaborative methods for the creative work in supported studios.
NOA project seeks for advancingstrengthening the quality of work practise and creating innovative solutions in making a difference in individual artistic development and in the field of Nordic Outsider Art. The project is funded by the Nordic Culture Fund and the Nordic Culture Point.
Outisider art
Outsider art is made by people who create their art in margins of mainstream and established art world. Most of the current Outsider art is made by artists with disabilities working in supported studios. National fields of Outsider art are limited and therefore studios are willing to reach for new possibilities across the border. NOA can offer collegial support for both outsider artists as well as teachers and trainers.
NOA project
During the project the participants will have an extraordinary experience on working together and learning new skills and techniques that they can use for inspiration in their own countries. NOA is an exciting possibility for the participants to ensure the vital development in working together across the Nordic countries. It is also an opportunity to get inspiration and learn from each other’s cultures, discoveries and policies.
The project takes place in 2016. Finnish Outsider Art association Kettuki administrates the project. Other participants are GAIA Museum Outsider Art (Denmark), Kaarisilta (Finland), Inuti (Sweden) and, Art without borders (Iceland).
