Time: Monday 10th November 2014 at 16:00-20:00
Place: Helsinki City Hall, Pohjoisesplanadi 11-13

For the first time in Finland, Make Arts Policy Summit presents an evening of debates between politicians, artists, cultural producers, and policy makers. MAP Summit is a new artistic format that uses a strategy of discursive performance to blur the lines between constituents and their representatives, and elicit a moment of new possibilities in Finland´s political landscape. Representatives of Finnish political parties will disclose their proposed art policy for the 2015 elections to MAP Summit attendees. Presentations will adhere to a strict set of rules in order to guide debates towards urgent matters of the arts and society. Experts from the art field will have the opportunity to directly debate their propositions.

Drawing from the aesthetics and choreography of official state event, the summit will include experts´ room, short performances, music and refreshments. MAP Summit is a model to be replicated and repeated as needed. It is a service that utilises a theatrical performance setting as means for impacting the political. It is a new step in understanding the role of artists in the arena of politics.
