"Culture friends" are now ready in Helsinki
City of Helsinki Cultural Office and Social services and health care have educated together 70 "culture friends", to accompany and guide different people in cultural services. The participating culture organizations are cultural centers Malmitalo and Kanneltalo, Helsinki Art Museum and Helsinki City Museum.
Culture friends are meant to support anyone, who doesn´t want to go alone to cultural events or who feel it is difficult to go. Culture friends contribute to the accessibility of cultural services and the activity and welfare fo the people living in Helsinki. For example loneliness can prevent someone from going to a cultural event. Culture friends are volunteers, who will be "peer guides", they will assist and keep company to people, who need some encouragement to participate in cultural activities.
You can order a culture friend for yourself free of charge from the number (09) 310 58237 (Mondays and Thursdays 12-14 amd Tuesdays 10-14). Museums visits are free of charge, if you go with culture friend, and Malmitalo and Kanneltalo ticket prices are max. 5 euros.
