A film about Tom of Finland

Work on shooting a film based on the life of the artist Touko Laksonen, also known as Tom of Finland, is set to start in spring 2014. The film will premiere in 2015. The biopic on Laaksonen´s life will be produced by the Special Film Company.

Tom of Finland´s work featured homo-erotic depictions of men which became iconic works among the gay community. He was granted the Puupäähattu cartoon strip prize in 1990, and featured in the Daddy and the Muscle Academy documentary in 1991.
 
Laaksonen will be played by Olli Rahkonen in the film, which will be directed by Vesa Kuosmanen and Henri Huttunen. Half of the film´s budget will be provided by international partners, with the rest coming from private investors in Finland.
