The prize highlights democracy, equality, freedom of expression and civilisation.
The Minna Canth Prize, worth 35,000 euros, aims to highlight activities or actions that strengthen democracy and promote the future in a sustainable and fair manner towards the eventuation of equality, learning, and freedom of expression, and whose impact on society can be clearly demonstrated.
The prize will be awarded for the first time at the Minna Canth Seminar on Minna Canth Day on 19 March 2026.
The prize winner must be nominated, which means that the prize cannot be proposed on their own.
