Anastasia Artemeva (she/her)

Anastasia Artemeva is a visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland, working across immersive installation, photography, textiles, and drawing. Her artistic practice often extends into workshops, where she integrates these techniques to create collaborative and participatory experiences.

Her areas of expertise and interest span contemporary and public art, art education, human rights, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and cultural production. She is committed to anti-racist and feminist practices, supporting prisoners’ rights, rehabilitation, and reintegration after imprisonment. Anastasia also explores themes of multilingualism, parenting and caretaking, and women’s presence in technical professions. She is particularly inspired by collaborative projects that bring together people from different fields and life experiences, including art for children and multilingual families.

Anastasia graduated with a BA from Limerick School of Art and Design, Ireland (2012), and an MA Visual Culture and Contemporary Art from Aalto University, Finland (2016). She has exhibited works across Europe and Japan. Her research engages with domesticity and labor, isolation and confinement, belonging, and the meaning of home. She has also received training in Criminology and Human Rights protection studies.

Her collaborative partners include Helsinki Prison, RETS – Life without Crime, the City of Vantaa cultural services for children, and the International School of Helsinki, among others.

Anastasia is a certified Cultural Diversity and Sustainable Development Dialogue Cards workshop facilitator.

Alongside her art practice, she is currently training to become a car mechanic and electrician, expanding her knowledge across technical and creative fields.

Anastasia has done DEI work with: Vankilamuseo, Agents of Change: Mediating Minorities, City of Vantaa, the Finnish Aviation Museum, The Ministry of Culture and Education, The Finnish Cultural Institute, The Skapa Position (Raasepori).
