Orlando, oodi luonnolle 12.12.2025 – 20.1.2026, Tampere

Frenckell stage, Tampere Theatre

Orlando, oodi luonnolle (“Orlando, an Ode to Nature”)is a dance performance with wording, created with visually impaired viewers in mind. It features creative movement descriptions – speech and sound – that describe the events of the performance. An important part is the sensations related to nature and the seasons: How does the wind feel on your skin? How does water flow through your fingers?

The work is inspired by nature and the seasons, Virginia Woolf's novel Orlando, and the sadness and other emotions caused by the current eco-crisis.

The aim of the performance is to be a multi-sensory entity, in which people with all kinds of senses can participate as spectators as equally as possible.

At the heart of the work is the poetics that arise from the equal work of artists with and without developmental disabilities, as well as from the practices of creative accessibility, the creation of new ways of working and expressing themselves, and the diversification of artistry.

In preparing the performance, we are assisted by accessibility consultant Milla Lindh from the Finnish Deaf and Blind Association.
