Invitation: Inclusion as a Strategy for Museums of the Future 16.-17.10.2017

Together —  Finnish-German Museum Forum 2017 in Berlin

Date: 16th-17th October 2017
Venue: The Finnish Institute in Germany, Georgenstr. 24, 10117 Berlin, and visits to museums in Berlin

The forum will address issues of diversity, equality, accessibility and inclusion in Finnish and German museums. It aims to provide the opportunity for partners to exchange information about their current work, positive experiences and practice. And to discuss today’s questions, future developments and the long-term impacts of their work.

The forum is a part of Finland’s centenary celebration in 2017, whose core theme is ‘Together’.
 

Who is the forum for?

The forum is a moderated symposium for Finnish and German museum experts.

Forum language

The forum is delivered in English.

Accessibility

The Finnish Institute is accessible and features a sound system with microphones and an induction loop. We can arrange communication support for deaf or hearing-impaired participants on 16th October. Please get in touch by 31st March if you need additional support, for example from English to German Sign Language interpretation (DGS) or Speech-to-Text reporting (English).

How to register

Participants from Germany

Will be chosen by The Federal Association of Museum Education and The German Museums Association.

Participants from Finland

Interested museum experts register with a Webropol form and apply for a travel grant of the National Board of Antiquities.

According to the intimate nature of the symposium, the maximum number of participants is 60 people (30 from Finland, 30 from Germany).

Programme

The programme offers short case study presentations, discussions and workshops, and takes place over two days. The first day is reserved for presentations and discussions. On the second day, participants may take themed excursions to museums in Berlin, plus in-depth studies, further talks and workshops.
