Feminist Film Festival Outlinens feat. live talkshow, 3.-4.10.2015, Helsinki
The two-day event Outlines of the Helsinki based Silta (Bridge) collective is a feminist film festival feat. a live talk show which reflects on the memory of collectives, collective remembrance as well as collective amnesia.
The event is held from 3rd to 4th October 2015 in the WHS Theatre Union. It is began with an opening and ended with a party. The event is free of cost. On both days the program will run from 3 to 8 p.m.
Silta collective
Silta collective are MARYAN ABDULKARIM and PAULIINA FEODOROFF, who are the presenters and audiences of each other’s public talk. The duo works together for the first time in the Silta collective.
Films
The film program is mainly drawn from the collection of the feminist film archive Cinenova (London), complemented with personal whims and necessary remarks by the Silta collective.
Central to the event are not films but the political issues addressed in them. These issues are brought to the moment of now in the talk show sessions together with invited guests and the audience. Some films are shown as excerpts to trigger discussion. Others in contrast are shown entirely in separate screenings during the event. The discussions are in Finnish, the films in English (subtitled in English).
Live talk show
On the agenda of the live talk show are, among other things,
POWER. COLONIALISM. NOW. INDIGENOUS PEOPLES. BLACK FEMINISM.
Remembering silences
The event is part of the program Remembering Silences produced by Checkpoint Helsinki. The next events of the series take place in December 2015, April and summer 2016.
