The silences of archives - language minorities in archives 6th November
The Finnish Literature Society SKS (1831) and The Society of Swedish Literature in Finland SLS (1885) were established to promote the Finnish and Swedish culture and language. As time goes by, also documents in other languages and about other languages have been received or collected to their archives.
Place: The main building of The Finnish Literature Society (SKS), Hallituskatu 1, Festivity Hall

The silences of archives seminar is about what documents of language minorities and in what languages do the Finnish archives include and what should be included?
The seminar is open for everyone interested. The languages are mainly Finnish and Swedish, but the keynote speaker speech is in English (9.15-10.00 David Sutton: Diasporic Literary Archives: Questions of Location, Ownership and Interpretation). Please tell in the registration form (by 30.10.), if you need interpretation to Finnish Sign Language or from Finnish to Swedish or Swedish to Finnish.
The accessible entrance to the building (Hallituskatu 1) is from the Mariankatu street. There is an induction loop in the seminar space. Service dogs are welcome.
