Seminar about Absolutely abNormal issues in museum exhibitions 12.12.2011
The seminar is held at the Finnish Labour Museum Werstas in Tampere
The yearly Christmas seminar of the Finnish Labour Museum Werstas covers this year the theme of presenting different marginals in museum exhibitions. The seminar also explores the Absolutely abNormal exhibition (16.9.2011-27.5.2012 in Werstas) about the history and present of people with disabilities in Finland, and the large co-operation process behind the exhibition.
The key note speaker of the seminar is Professor Thomas (Tom) Shakespeare from the University of Sydney. Shakespeare is a sociologist and a disability activist. In his research he has studied the rights of the disabled people in different times. The language of his presentation "Our statures touch the skies: thinking about famous disabled people from history" is English. Otherwise the seminar language is Finnish. More information in Finnish.
