CALL FOR PAPERS
Immigrant Inclusion by e-Participation (IIeP) EU -project is organising an International Joint Workshop on Immigrant Inclusion by e-Participation on 2.-3.11.2011 in Helsinki.
The aim of the workshop is to gather an up-to-date account on facts, policies, technologies as well as research results on electronic and web-based means of immigrant participation in the society, and to discuss whether these means can contribute to the overall inclusion of immigrants. The pronounced approach of the issue is bottom-up, emphasizing immigrants´ own needs, initiatives, organizations as well as their web competences and practices as the starting point of active citizenship. We encourage not only academic communities but also citizen groups, activists, NGOs and authorities to submit in order to gain a holistic picture of the issue. Accordingly, the submissions may take the form of position statements, white papers as well as initiatives or research results.
Please submit an abstract of 200 words by September 1, 2011 to email address mauri.kaipainen@sh.se with "IIeP submission" in the subject field. On the basis of the review, the final submissions for the international joint workshop will be invited before October 1, 2011, after which full papers are due to the date of the event itself.
The contributions will be published in the Publication series of the Department of Social Research, Helsinki University and/or in the context of the IIeP outcomes such as manuals and website. A selection of the presented and further developed papers will be considered for an anthology in an international journal with a referee practice.
The program of the international joint workshop will be published by end of September at http://iiep-project.eu/
