Save the date - The Forum of Equality in Culture 23-24.5.2018 in Stockholm

The logo of The Forum of Equality in Culture.

Welcome to the second Forum of Equality in Culture - Collect, Connect, Create in Stockholm, 23-24 May, 2018- Equality, accessibility and new creative technologies in the fields of Science Centers and Performing Arts.

How can we work to make a change? How can the cultural field be made more accessible from a moral, political and technical perspective? Who is the accessibility for? The programme includes inputs from experts, cases from the fields of science centers and the performing arts, idea development in advisory rings and a workshop on equality and accessibility.

The aim is to bring together professionals from science centers and the performing arts field throughout the Nordic region. We welcome executives, content planners, creators, media technicians, performance directors, including sign language theatre professionals, science center- and theatre educators, experts in technology and in accessibility. All participants will also have the opportunity to develop their own work. Choose a case, an exhibit or a play you want to develop and bring it to the forum.

Themes

This forum is a spin off from the Helsinki Forum of Equality in Culture: Accessibility 3.0 arranged in Helsinki in November 2016 by Culture for All Service (FI) in cooperation with organizations on the Finnish arts and accessibility field. This time we meet in Stockholm with the specific themes of equality, accessibility and technical solutions in the fields of Performing Arts and Science Centers.

Please distribute this information to to all those involved in planning, media technology, pedagogy and accessibility in your organization. All professions are welcome and we welcome teams of 2-3 people from each organisation.

Programme

On day 1 the work will be influenced by the interactive exhibition MegaMind at the National Museum of Science and Technology, and on day 2 the participants will be inspired by the work of Tyst Teater, a part of Riksteatern, the National Touring Theatre of Sweden. There will be inputs by experts, case presentations and an accessibility workshop. In Advisory Ring groups your idea is boosted by your new colleagues. This method offers everyone in the group equal time for presentation and for receiving tips and help from others. The participants will reflect on three issues to ensure a good overall experience in each case:

1. How can our work be made accessible/more accessible with new technical solutions?
2. In what way can interaction be enhanced?
3. How can we deepen the experience? (the senses, the place, the time, the distance)

A more detailed program and an application form will be available in March.
